Leading companies are partnering to accomplish the mission of delivering clean energy options to the communities they serve

FREMONT, CA: Stem, the global leader in artificial intelligence (AI)-driven energy storage services, announces the release of its first solar+ storage independent power producer (IPP) site. The project is part of its collaboration with Syncarpha Capital, LLC, a pioneering investment company that develops and operates distributed photovoltaic (PV) solar and energy storage systems in North America.

Within these projects, the Stems Athena AI platform will charge one DC-coupled and four AC-coupled front-of-the-meter (FTM) solar and storage projects, including the Blandford site. Athena offers the intelligence that allows the projects to participate in wholesale markets managed by the Independent System Operator-New England. Additionally, Athena will help comply with the needs for federal investment tax credits and the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) Program, a state effort that encourages cost-effective solar development with customer-facing and grid service benefits.

Missioned on implementing intelligent energy storage solutions for behind-the-meter applications, the partnership is excited to bring their expertise to the FTM market. Stem harnessed its deep experience and gained significant knowledge about how best to navigate its collaborators and stakeholders through the ISO-NE asset registration processes. This expertise, combined with the company's state-of-the-art Athena software, will allow it to help its partners like Syncarpha optimize FTM solar+storage deployments and realize new revenue streams through these incentive programs.

The Blandford site is now powered by Athena to automate operations, creating nearly 5MW of solar during the day. Athena then powers and discharges the Stem storage system to transfer energy to the desired hours, maximizing energy by discharging into the peak.

The Stem is the leader in AI-driven energy storage facilities with nearly 1,000 energy storage systems, and an additional 300 Athena platforms deployed six U.S. states, Ontario and Japan. Stems AI platform, Athena, the state-of-the-art energy storage, performing real-time energy optimization that amplifies revenues and allows customers to access additional market opportunities through Stem's network.
